Hello everyone! Welcome back to another week of wine tasting. This week we are going to be exploring Chile and the wines that this country produces. We are going to try two different houses including Montes and Bodega Volcanes.
Up first we are going to enjoy a Pinot Noir by Bodega. This wine is going to be lighter in hue of color and body with a strong presence of strawberries, raspberries and cherries. This Pinot will also have a spicy dry finish with a solid amount of complexity to this wine.
Next on the docket, we are going to be enjoying a Malbec from the Montes producer. This producer is one of the highest rated wineries in the country producing some of the most high end wines coming from Chile. This wine has an elegant bouquet with a strong presence of oak, vanilla, dark chocolate, ripe plums and and a hint of smoke and leather. This wine will pair beautifully with osso-buco accompanied with some rice and black beans.
Lastly on the tasting, we are going to try a Carmenere from Bodega. This grape varietal is less common from Chile, however, this beautifully made wine showcases a velvety medium bodied wine. The bouquet of this wine is going to have a strong presence of blackberries, plums, oak, vanilla and chocolate. What makes this producer also unique is that this house plants their grapes on volcanic soil which translates to a more pronounced earthy notes that is well resembled in this wine.
We are looking forward to seeing you this upcoming Thursday, cheers!
