California Wine Tasting, March 24th!

Welcome back to another week in the world of wines! This week is going to be all about California and the wines that this state produces.

To kick off the tasting we are going to try an unoaked Chardonnay. There are over 100,000 acres in production in California of this varietal. Making this grape the most planted grape varietal in California. This wine is elegantly simple and beautifully made. This unoaked Chardonnay is perfect for everyday consumption with simple aromas of peaches, lemon green apples and a hint of pear.

Up next on the tasting we are going to try Terra’ D’ Oro’s Chenin Blanc & Viognier. This winery is located in the Amador AVA which is well known for their elevation and iron rich volcanic soils. This highly aromatic wine boasts pears, apples, peaches and some tropical fruits. Therefore, this wine is going to be drier and with moderate acidity it makes it a perfect contender for any fish entree and cheese board.

Lastly on the tasting we are going to be enjoying an oaked Chardonnay from Raeburn. The term “Raeburn” is an Old-English which means “the river where one goes to drink”. This wine has an intense bouquet of vanilla cream, oak, strong ripe peaches, vanilla bean and with a high acid content it translates to a beautifully crafted Chardonnay.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday!
